Air Tahiti is a French airline operating across 46 islands of French Polynesia, and connecting more than 90 percent of the population. The airline has a public service in spite of its private company status. Its main base is Faaa International Airport.The airline's primary purpose is to oeprate scheduled air transportation between the islands. Air Tahiti on top of this however also provide other aviation related activities and contribute to the development of the Territory. Air Tahiti domestic air transportation provides administrative, school and medical exchanges between Tahiti and the islands.Another focus of the airline, is to meet the specific and selective requests, chartering its aircraft for the transportation of clients and/or goods. In the case of goods, some aircrafts can be converted into freighters by reconfiguration and removal of seats to allow the loading of freight. Air Tahiti is therefore regularly chartered to transport things like, oysters (from abroad to the islands) or agricultural products (flowers, potatoes, fruit).December 2014, Air Tahiti after several months of development, presented its new Internet face, featuring a new design from an improved navigation structure to new functionalities.

Air Tahiti has the same the same hand baggage allowance whatever your destination. So included in your flight ticket, at no extra cost, is one piece of hand luggage weighing a maximum of 5 kg (11 Ib) and max dimensions 45 x 35 x 20 cm (17 x 13 x 7 in). Checked luggage Depending on the flight ticket purchased checked baggage allowance may vary. Standard tickets (Y class) or a flight to/from Rarotonga includes up to 3 pieces of luggage per person. Dimensions must not exceed length + width + height = 150 cm (59 in) and weight allowance is no more than 23kg (50 lb) per person for all pieces combined. The authorised allowance per person is therefore broken down as follows: 1 piece of 23 kg or 2 pieces of 11.5 kg or 3 pieces of 7.6 kg.If you have booked a special ticket with additional weight allowance (Z class), included in your ticket is up to 3 pieces of luggage per person with the same dimensions as mentioned above but a maximum weight allowance of 46 kg (100 lb) per person for all pieces. Once again thisc an be broken down as follows: 2 items of luggage weighing 23 kg or 3 items of luggage weighing 15.3 kg. Please note that the baggage dimensions include wheels and handles .
Check in Information
Air Tahiti allows you to check in online for your flight and print your boarding pass comfortably, from 16 hours up to 1 hour prior to your scheduled flight departure time.You are permitted to check in online with or without luggage;with an e-ticket;if you a group of up to 8 passengers per booking travelling and when flying from any of the islands except the following: Ahe, Arutua, Gambier, Makemo, Mataiva, Takapoto, Takaroa, Tureia, Ua Huka and Ua Pou.However, online check in is not permitted if you are flying to or from Rarotonga;if you are travelling in a Twin Otter or Beechcraft, or with a connecting flight in a Twin Otter or Beechcraft, if you should require special assistance on your journey, for example, a person travelling with an infant (child under two);if you are an unaccompanied child;a passenger with reduced mobility due to a motor, visual, hearing or mental disability, or because of age or illness;passenger requiring an additional seat;travelling with a pet, a group of more than 8 people;or you are without a seat booked on the flight or with a paper ticket.Airport check in counters are availabe at the airports if you are unable to check in online. Note that if you have baggage to check in you will need to go to the Baggage Drop Off desk or indeed Check In desk at the airport. Be sure to allow enough time prior to check closure so that you can drop off your luggage within the appropriate timeframe. Luggage outside of the allowed time frame will not be accepted. Go straight to the boarding gate if you do not have luggage to check in, no later than 10 minutes prior to your flight departure, with your printed boarding pass and a valid travel document. When travelling through Tahiti-Faa'a Airport, allow time to first pass through security. It is for this reason you are advised to make your way to your gate before the time shown on your boarding card.
