First Class: 3 bags up to 32 kg (70 lb) each

  • European flights

For flights within Europe the free baggage rules are determined by the new Europe fare options:

Economy Light: 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg only

Economy Classic / Flex: 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg;1 bag up to 23 kg

Business Class: 2 pieces of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg;2 bags up 32 kg

  • Online Check in

From as early as 23 hours before departure customers can check in Online, select their seat and conveniently print out their online boarding pass or have it sent to their mobile phone.

  • Smartphone Check in

From as early as 23 hours before departure customers can check in with their smartphones, reserve their seat and receiving their mobile boarding pass. This can be done by simply entering in their mobile phone’s browser or by using the Lufthansa app.

  • Machine Check in

For customers using the machine check in the steps are simple;

Simply place your machine-readable ID card or passport on the check-in machine’s scanner. Then enter the flight number, destination or booking reference for your flight.


Touch the screen and enter your last name and the booking reference for your flight. You will find this on your booking confirmation, on your online passenger receipt or in your profile on under "my bookings"
