Sun Country Airlines, is an American airline with its head offices in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul, Minnesota and uses Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) as its main hub. Sun Country Airlines operates scheduled and charter flights from Terminal 2-Humphrey to 33 destinations throughout the United States, Mexico, Caribbean and Costa Rica. Just 15 of these destinations are served all year round by the airline. The airline also manages the charter services for the United States Armed Forces.Sun Country Airlines original staff consisted of sixteen pilots, sixteen flight attendants, three mechanics and one office person. The company's first president was Captain Jim Olsen, who also acted as Chief Pilot. His wife, Joan Smith-Olsen, acted as Chief Flight Attendant and Head of Inflight Operations. Jim Olsen retired from Sun Country in 2007.Sun Country began seasonal service to London Stansted Airport on June 11, 2010, and service ended in mid-August. Each flight had a stopover in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador. It was the airline's first service to Europe, but Sun Country used to operate charter flights to Europe with its DC-10s. In May 2011 the airline began operating flights to London Gatwick Airport instead of Stansted; the flight maintained its stopover at Gander. On January 13, 2012, Sun Country began service to Liberia, Costa Rica. On December 20, 2012, Sun Country resumed service to Tampa, Florida. On December 22, 2012, Sun Country began service to Huatulco, Mexico. On July 1, 2013, Sun Country began service to Chicago Midway. Sun Country has now also gained approval for flights from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Washington-Reagan National Airport. The Minneapolis-Washington route began on August 20, 2013.
Sun Country Airlines Luggage Requirements
Passengers are permitted to take one piece of carry-on baggage which does not exceed 45 linear inches (length, width, height), including the wheels and handle. Weight must be no more than 35 Ibs. Sun Country Airlines also allows an additional smaller item as carry on which will fit under the seat in front of you (e.g., laptop, purse, etc.). Should your carry-on baggage exceed these limits a fee may be applied to have it checked in. Should however the volume of carry-on luggage exceed the aircraft stowage capacity, selected luggage will be appropriately tagged and placed in designated cargo compartments. You can retrieve the tagged bags from the baggage carousel at the final destination.
Passenger can purchase checked luggage prior to travelling. Checked baggage can be paid for up to 24 hours prior to your outbound flight. It is recommended that you print your prepaid luggae purchase confirmation e-mail for your records and bring a copy to the airport terminal check-in desks as your receipt of purchase. Bag fees that have been pre-paid remain non-refundable if ticket is later upgraded to First Class.
Passengers exempt from having to purchase the first item of checked luggage are those who are First Class ticket holders and those who buy a discounted/promotional upgrade from Coach to First Class. Note that if you have already purchased checked luggage and decide to upgrade your ticket later, the amount paid remains non-refundable.

The chairman of Sun Country Airline's, advised in an email to a union leader, that the company is “downsizing the airline, for what will need to be its ultimate shutdown." The exchange of emails is between Sun Country Chairman Marty Davis and Brian Roseen, the head of the union that represents Sun Country pilots. Although Sun Country has not confirmed that the email exists nor its intentions, it is fair to say that the two sides have been in difficult negotiations for years over pilot pay.“We are disappointed Mr. Davis has chosen to respond to us with the threat of a shutdown even as the Association is prepared to present its counter-proposal," a statement from Roseen reads in part.“Sun Country pilots intend to show up for work tomorrow and continue to do our jobs the way we always have -- safely, professionally and courteously."
Sun Country Airlines adds a seasonal service to to coastal destinations, Gulfport/Biloxi and Savannah/Hilton Head to offer travellers from Minneapolis/St new weekend getaway opportunities. Sun Country Airlines is launching this new seasonal service from its hometown market Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) to coastal destinations which offer rich history, beautiful scenery, golf courses, beaches and more. Flight tickets to these destinations will be available for sale beginning March 19th, 2015. The Gulfport/Biloxi service will run from August 27th to November 22nd 2015 and Savannah/Hilton Head service plans to run from August 27th to December 13th 2015. The addition of these destinations, to Sun Country Airlines portfolrio means that they will service a total of 37 destinations throughout the year.

Web check in is available to passengers holding an electronic ticket for domestic travel to or from selected cities. You may check-in for your flight no more than 24 hours prior to, and up to 1 hour before your scheduled departure time. If you are travelling with infants, or are an unaccompanied minor, in a group larger than 10 or are booked onto an international flight, note that check-in online is not available.In order to proceed with the check-in process you will need your last name and your 6 letter confirmation code.
